Alex K.
Bounce, scouse, donk, NRG, depending on your take they're either different names for the same thing or distinctly different sub-genres of a style of music, but they all have one thing in common, Alex K put them on the map and set the standard which has been imitated, mimicked and celebrated ever since.
Although best known in the UK for his recent series of platinum selling Ultimate NRG albums, Alex's music has been played in many parts of Australia, UK & European club scene for years. Alex started plying his trade as a DJ and producer aged just 16 in his native Sydney, but it wasn't long before his tracks started finding their way to the other side of the world and electrifying dance floors across the UK.
In the clubs across the North that would come to form the foundations of the style that defined the Clubland series, as far back as ten years ago harder edged sets from DJs often featured Dinky tracks like Alex K vs Amen - Angel In My Heart and Alex's anthemic mix of Carlotta Chadwick - Be There which is still hailed by many as the best tune ever to come out of the bounce genre.
As the bounce sound matured into supporting its own scene in clubs across the country Alex's tracks formed the bedrock of every DJ's set and his mixes soon became a fixture on AATW promo's, singles and albums alike.
In 2006 Alex released his first compilation album Ultimate NRG that show cased his talents as a DJ and producer and grand master of the bounce sound in one package. Despite the bounce scene being viewed in the wider industry as a regional phenomena, largely assumed to be confined to the North West, Ultimate NRG flew off the shelves across the country which each of the first three albums going Gold. The fourth instalment is now due early in 2009 and already looks set to further evolve the series and continue its run away success
